AYSO La Costa is a chartered region of the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO). We belong to Area 'R' and Section 11 of AYSO, encompassing AYSO regions throughout San Diego County and parts of Imperial county. Officially we are known as "11/R/1282". AYSO LC has been one of the fastest growing, and is the second largest AYSO region in Section 11. AYSO-LC is run entirely by volunteers.
AYSO La Costa is open to all players who meet the age requirements. The bulk of our players come from Carlsbad, Encinitas, Olivenhain, San Marcos, San Elijo, Rancho Santa Fe, and surrounding communities.
We operate on a philosophy of open registration, balanced teams, everyone plays, good sportsmanship, positive coaching and player development.
All volunteers in direct contact with players must complete child safety training and pass a background check.
The philosophy of the American Youth Soccer Organization, Region 1282 is to educate and develop young people by encouraging their interest and participation in soccer through the following concepts:
Everyone Plays
Our goal is for kids to play soccer, so we mandate that every player must play 3/4 of each game.
Balanced Teams
At the start of each season teams are as evenly balanced as possible in terms of age, experience and talent. The game is more fun when teams of equal ability play.
Open Registration
AYSO is open to all children between the ages of 4 1/2 and 18 who want to play soccer. Interest and enthusiasm are the only criteria.
Positive Coaching
Positive coaching is the glue that holds together the AYSO philosophy and gives it meaning for AYSO players. Positive coaching means instruction without condemning, praising the individual but correcting the group, displaying good sportsmanship and in general, setting a good example for AYSO players.
Good Sportsmanship
It is our goal to instill in all players the ability to be a good sport toward the opposing players, coaches and game officials, regardless of the outcome of the game.
Player Development
We believe that all players should be able to develop their soccer skills and knowledge to the best of their abilities, both individually and as members of a team, in order to maximize their enjoyment of the game.
Within these parameters Region 1282 will operate a quality soccer program where young people will develop a good self image and enhance their self esteem through participation in a safe, healthy, fun and positive environment.
